Marketing Assistant

General Summary:

Reports to the Marketing and Procurement Manager

The Marketing Assistant will assist the Marketing and Procurement Manager in developing and implementing innovative marketing, public relations, and promotional programs aimed at increasing awareness of GHRA services.

Primary Responsibility:

Assist in designing, creating, and distributing promotional flyers, brochures, newsletters, calendars, and other promotional materials that help build awareness. Coordinate and execute promotional programs with supplier partners that add value and incremental volume opportunities for our membership.  Assist marketing team in other marketing and sales support-related activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop promotional materials and vehicles per a prescribed timeframe.
  • Evaluate promotional programs and offerings from suppliers to include in internal communications to membership
  • Manage and track financials and contracts with DSD and Warehouse suppliers
  • Assist Category Managers in developing ad hoc promotional programs for stores, warehouse and Cash and Carry. 
  • Develop competitive activity database of promotional offerings
  • Work closely with retail group to develop trade show program for suppliers.
  • Develop, maintain, and coordinate with Members Services consumer educational resources for members that will help them gain an understanding of their customer and help them drive their business.
  • Assist in developing “Own Brand” strategy.  
  • Help coordinate retail programs between Retail and DSD/Warehouse
  • Establish proof of performance mechanisms to satisfy manufacturer/supplier requirements.
  • Work with finance to ensure timely client billing and compliance.
  • Works closely with Accounts Payable Department to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices and vendor agreements
  • Write, edits and proofread all material copies for DSD/warehouse promotions including printed material, web pages, advertisements, catalog/handbook ads, professional and trade association articles, calendar announcements and e-mails notices
  • Responsible for SKU digital photography, photo activities, and digital image processing for print and web use
  • Develops branded marketing campaigns for new and existing initiatives as needed, including comprehensive marketing plans, logos, taglines, branded print collateral, promotional materials, and the follow-up communications
  • Prepares web site graphics, including logos and photographs

Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years’ experience in consumer goods within a marketing/marketing support role
  • Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint working knowledge
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Canva
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent planning skills
  • Ability to multi task effectively
  • Cross functional experience

Educational Requirements:

  • 5+ years experience in marketing of consumer goods
  • Bachelor degree preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • May be standing or sitting for extend period of times
  • Occasional light travel
  • Extended period of time working in front of computer monitor
